We will be closed Friday, June 19th for Juneteenth. See you Saturday, 12-4.

 

Don’t forget that Nature’s Educators will be here next week with some pretty rad nocturnal animals for you to see. All ages are welcome! We’ll see you Wednesday the 24th at 3:30pm.

 

For all the Little Explorers age 0-5 out there, we’ll see you at the Mining Museum on Thursday the 25th for storytime at 10:30!

 

Our Community

Summer has officially arrived! Be sure to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge for your chance at some great prizes for all ages. More information can be found on our website HERE . 

 

We had the best time last Friday with all the folks that came out to our Summer Reading Kickoff Party. It was full of fun and laughs–even when T-Rex decided to join the kids for a game of Connect 4! There were tasty treats for all and a chalk art contest for the kids. 

 

This year, we have individual goals to read 600 minutes and a community goal to read 180,000 minutes. We smashed our goal last year–will you help us break the record again?

 

 

Our Collections

 

June is Pride month and we have no shortage of books you can check out on the topic. From informative to entertaining, there’s a wide variety of options. If you’re not sure what you’re looking for, stop by our front desk by the printing computers for an inclusive resource list that can guide you through different sections of the library and what you can find and where. Be sure to keep an eye out for us at the Pride parade on Saturday the 20th!

 

With our summer reading theme “Unearth A Story”, we’ve curated lots of picks for you to discover on our Monthly Feature’s display. Pop on in and try something new. 

 

Got home improvements this summer? Dreading buying that one tool that you need only one time? Don’t worry–we have you covered! All LCPL Resident library card holders (with accounts in good standing) can check out tools for FREE from us! All it takes is to schedule a Tool Library Orientation before you’re able to check out up to 10 tools at a time for up to a week at a time. Find all the info you need on our website HERE. 

Running away from your home improvement tasks and out to nature instead? We’ve got you covered there, too! The Library of Things has fun stuff like a State Parks pass, telescope, and metal detector to accompany you on your outdoor adventures. All Lake County Resident Library Cardholders with accounts older than 1 month and in good standing are eligible. Stop by the front desk today to fill out your waiver and get started.

La biblioteca permanecerá cerrada el viernes 19 de junio en conmemoración de Juneteenth. ¡Nos vemos el sábado de 12:00 p.m. a 4:00 p.m.!

No olviden que la próxima semana nos visitará Nature 's Educators con algunos animales nocturnos increíbles para que los conozcan de cerca. ¡Todas las edades son bienvenidas! Los esperamos el miércoles 24 a las 3:30 p.m.

Y para todos nuestros pequeños exploradores de 0 a 5 años, ¡nos vemos en el Museo de Minería el jueves 25 para la hora del cuento a las 10:30 a.m.!

¡El verano ha llegado oficialmente! No olvides inscribirte en el Desafío de Lectura de Verano para tener la oportunidad de ganar excelentes premios para todas las edades. Puedes encontrar más información en nuestro sitio web AQUÍ.

¡La pasamos de maravilla el viernes pasado con todas las personas que asistieron a nuestra Fiesta de Inicio del Desafío de Lectura de Verano! Fue una tarde llena de diversión y risas, incluso cuando un T-Rex decidió unirse a los niños para una partida de Conecta 4. Hubo deliciosos bocadillos para todos y un concurso de arte con gis para los niños.

Este año, cada participante tiene la meta individual de leer 600 minutos, y como comunidad tenemos el objetivo de alcanzar 180,000 minutos de lectura. El año pasado superamos nuestra meta por mucho. ¿Nos ayudarás a romper el récord una vez más?

Junio es el Mes del Orgullo, y contamos con una gran variedad de libros que puedes llevar prestados sobre este tema. Desde títulos informativos hasta lecturas entretenidas, hay opciones para todos los intereses. Si no estás seguro de qué buscas, visita nuestro mostrador principal, junto a las computadoras de impresión, para obtener una lista de recursos inclusivos que te ayudará a encontrar materiales en diferentes secciones de la biblioteca. ¡No olvides buscarnos en el desfile del Orgullo el sábado 20!

 

Con nuestro tema de lectura de verano, "Descubre una historia", hemos preparado una selección especial de materiales para que explores en nuestra exhibición mensual destacada. Pasa a visitarnos y anímate a probar algo nuevo.

 

¿Tienes proyectos de mejoras para el hogar este verano? ¿No te entusiasma comprar una herramienta que solo usarás una vez? ¡No te preocupes, nosotros te ayudamos! Todos los titulares de una tarjeta de la biblioteca residentes del condado de Lake (con cuentas en buen estado) pueden pedir herramientas prestadas GRATIS. Solo necesitas completar una Orientación de la Biblioteca de Herramientas antes de poder llevarte hasta 10 herramientas a la vez por un período de hasta una semana.
