The Creation Station is a service that allows patrons to access various crafting and content-creation tools. These tools include software, specialized equipment, crafting materials, and physical space. The Creation Station was made possible by a grant from the Lake County Community Fund and The Marilyn Nelson Endowment Fund.

How to Access the Creation Station

Who may use it:

Any patron who has undergone an orientation can book the space. Patrons must have a library card that is in good standing. All patrons 17 and under need to attend their orientation with an adult.

What’s an Orientation:

Orientation includes an overview and demonstration of all equipment. Following orientation, you will sign an agreement form, and a memo will be added to your library account that notes your Creation Station privileges. 

How to Book It:

Use the Creation Station Booking form. This same form is used to book a Creation Station orientation. Library staff will reach out to confirm your booking. 

When and Where:

Bookings should be made in advance and be within normal Library hours. Bookings reserve the AMAX Room for a minimum of 1-hour. Sessions can be for longer periods of time depending on availability. Saturday bookings are subject to staff availability. Three “no-shows” for bookings of any kind can result in revocation of Creation Station privileges.

• Button press (three different sizes)
• Sublimation printer
• Inkjet and Laserjet printers

Software:

• Canva Pro
• Cricut Design Space
• Procreate

Materials:

All patrons are given one free blank per month. “Blanks” are ready-to-use crafting materials. If additional materials are desired, patrons may either purchase them from the Library at the price paid, or bring their own materials. All outside materials are subject to approval.

Service Charge

We charge a small service fee to those who bring their own blanks: 50 cents per item. This is to cover expenses related to other supplies, such as printing inks, tapes, papers, and wear and tear on equipment. Please contact matt@lakecountypubliclibrary.org to learn more, or ask about creating in bulk.
