July is going to be an awesome month at LCPL. If you’re sitting at home bored, then you’re not checking our calendar to see all the awesome things we have going on during the month of July. Read on and get your day planner ready to pencil us in!
Closures & Cancellations
We will be closed on Friday & Saturday July 3rd and 4th for Independence Day. No programs will occur. See you Monday the 6th at our regular time.
Due to the Willow Fire, we have made the decision to cancel children's programming through Sunday, July 5th. The week of July 6th's programs are anticipated to proceed as planned, however, we will keep our website, our calendar, and our social media updated with any changes.
Announcements
July is the biggest month for the Summer Reading Challenge! Are you signed up yet? You have until August 1st to read 600 minutes (or 10 hours, however you want to look at it). All ages can participate and earn prizes. Will you help us reach our community reading goal of 180,000 minutes? Visit our summer reading webpage HERE for all the details.

Tuesday, July 7th | 11-2 | Best for teens & Adults
Try out the xTool, make a greeting card on the Cricut, and learn to sublimate print a custom tote bag! All supplies provided.
Little Explorers: Summer Edition
Thursdays | 10:30-11:30 | Ages 0-5 and their caregivers
Enjoy mining and dino-themed stories, songs, rhymes, and a fun craft or activity designed to build early literacy skills and spark imagination.

SENIORS ONLY!! Plant Bingo
Thursday, July 9th | 2-3:30
Seniors are invited to the library for an afternoon of Plant Bingo! Enjoy 10 rounds of bingo for the chance to win a free plant while spending time with friends and fellow plant lovers. We’ll also have tasty snacks, refreshing beverages and bite-sized desserts to enjoy during the games. Come relax, have fun, and maybe take home a new leafy friend!
SENIORS ONLY!! No Sew Blankets
Thursday, July 23rd | 2-3:30
Seniors are invited to join us at the library for a cozy and creative Summer activity! Participants will create a soft no-sew fleece blanket using their choice of fun and colorful fleece designs. No sewing experience is needed—just bring your creativity and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of crafting, conversation, and community fun!
Paleo Artistry with M. BrookeS
Friday, July 10th | Noon - 4:45 | Ages 12+
Love dinosaurs? Love art? Come meet, learn, and draw with Paleo Artist M. BrookeS! She is an award winning illustrator and instructor at Colorado Mesa University and will be at LCPL on the afternoon of Friday, July 10th to give a presentation on paleo art followed by a paleo art drawing class!
Presentation: Noon - approximately 2pm
Drawing Class: 2:15 - 4:45pm
All ages are welcome, though the program is likely best suited for tweens, teens, and adults.
All supplies will be provided.
Snacks provided!
LEGO Builder’s Lab
Monday, July 13th & July 27th | 4-5:30p | Geared for kids but all ages welcome
Put your imagination to work at LEGO Builders Lab! Kids can design, build, and create with LEGO bricks while exploring creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in a fun and relaxed library setting. All building supplies provided.
Junior Paleontologists
Wednesday, July 15, 22, and 29 | 4-5:30pm | Ages 6-12
Step into the prehistoric world of dinosaurs through crafts, games, creative projects, and fun learning activities. Young explorers will discover fascinating dinosaur facts while using their imagination and creativity in this exciting three-week adventure!
Geared towards ages 6-12. Some children may benefit from parental assistance in our final session on 7/29.
Finding Gold in Colorado
Thursday, July 16th | 6-8pm | Ages 12 - Adult
Strike it rich at the library! Join Kevin Singel, local Colorado author of Finding Gold in Colorado, for a lively look at Colorado’s gold panning history. After the talk, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on gold panning demo with gold-rich soil and discover gold just like the 1859 Gold Rush prospectors. All materials and snacks provided.

Every month we read one book, and meet on the 1st Wednesday to discuss our readings. Discussion meetings held in the Library, or around town. This month Anni will be guest hosting in July.
Once you register, someone from the library will reach out with details regarding the month's and readers may come to the library to get their book for the upcoming month.
*At least 8 copies of the book on hand--first come, first serve.*

Stop by the library on the second Wednesday of every month from 12:30-3:30 to meet with a representative of the Colorado Workforce Center. For employees and employers. Get help and resources for all things related to jobs and careers!

Do you struggle to get to the library during business hours? Is leaving your home a challenge? We can bring library materials to you! Whether you want to be surprised with topics you choose or you want to choose specific materials, the library can drop off and pick up your items whenever and wherever it is convenient for you. We have a ton of tools available for your home improvement projects this summer! All LCPL resident library cardholders (with accounts in good standing) are eligible to check out tools AFTER they complete a Tool Library Orientation. You can request your orientation appointment on our website HERE.

We have a ton of cool things to check out this summer at the library! From Colorado State Park Passes, to telescopes, to craft kits, musical instruments, yard games and more! All LCPL resident library cardholders (with accounts in good standing) are eligible to check out from the Library of Things after a waiting period of 30 days from the time they get their card and they fill out the waiver. Stop by and check out all the cool things we have!
BY APPOINTMENT | All Ages
Create, create, create! Unleash your creativity and craftyness with the LCPL Creation Station. Make all kinds of things like: stickers, hats, t-shirts, keychains, mugs, puzzles, mousepads, custom etching of drinkware, custom wood engraving, and SO much more! All LCPL resident cardholders (in good standing) are eligible after completing an orientation. To sweeten the deal, LCPL provides one free “blank” item a month for you to create with! Additional supplies can be purchased at low cost from the library or you can bring your own supplies in. (Don’t worry, we can give you guidelines on what to buy.) Las personas mayores están invitadas a la biblioteca para una actividad de verano acogedora y creativa. Los participantes elaborarán una manta de felpa sin costura utilizando su elección de diseños de tela divertidos y coloridos. No se necesita experiencia en costura—solo traiga su creatividad y disfrute de una tarde relajante de manualidades, conversación y convivencia comunitaria.
Paleo Artistry con M. BrookeS
Viernes el 10 de julio | Mediodía - 4:45 | Edades 12+
¿Te encantan los dinosaurios? ¿Te gusta el arte? ¡Ven a conocer, aprender y dibujar con la artista paleo M. BrookeS! Es una ilustradora galardonada e instructora en Colorado Mesa University y estará en LCPL la tarde del viernes 10 de julio para ofrecer una presentación sobre arte paleo, seguida de una clase de dibujo de arte paleo.
Presentación: Mediodía – aproximadamente 2:00 p. m.
Clase de dibujo: 2:15 – 4:45 p. m.
Todas las edades son bienvenidas, aunque el programa es más adecuado para preadolescentes, adolescentes y adultos.

Constructores LEGO
Lunes el 13 y 27 de julio | 4-5:30pm | Dirigido a niños pero todos los edades son bienvenidos
¡Pon tu imaginación a trabajar en LEGO Builders Lab! Cada mes leemos un libro y nos reunimos el primer miércoles para comentarlo/ Las reuniones se realizan en la biblioteca o en distintos lugares del pueblo. Este mes, Anni será la anfitriona invitada en julio.
Una vez que te registres, alguien de la biblioteca se pondrá en contacto contigo con detalles del mes, y los lectores pueden pasar por la biblioteca para recoger su libro para el próximo mes.

¡Nos llevamos los materiales a ti! Puedes elegir temas o materiales específicos, y la biblioteca se encarga de entregarlos y recogerlos cuando y donde te convenga. Para comenzar, llena el formulario de interés.

Los usuarios con tarjeta de LCPL (en buen estado) pueden acceder después de un período de espera de 30 días desde que obtienen su tarjeta y tras firmar un formulario. ¡Visítanos y descubre todo lo que tenemos!
CON CITA PREVIA | Todas las edades
¡Crea, crea, crea! Libera tu creatividad con la Creation Station de LCPL. Puedes hacer todo tipo de cosas como: calcomanías, gorras, camisetas, llaveros, tazas, rompecabezas, mousepads, grabado personalizado en vasos, grabado en madera ¡y mucho más!
Los usuarios con tarjeta LCPL (en buen estado) pueden usarla después de completar una orientación. Además, LCPL ofrece un artículo base gratis al mes para crear. Los materiales adicionales pueden comprarse a bajo costo en la biblioteca o puedes traer los tuyos (te damos recomendaciones sobre qué comprar). Completa el formulario para reservar tu orientación o tiempo privado en la estación.
