Announcements/Updates

We’re excited to announce The Soup Hug will be catering our free community dinner at the Earth Day Author Talk with Camille Dungy on Thursday, April 30th. Doors open at Freight at 5:30pm. Don’t have FOMO! Come join us! Remember to stop by the library and pick up your free copy of Camille’s book Soil: The Story of a Black Mother’s Garden while supplies last. 

 

Sadly, we’re saying goodbye to Finn, our Programming Coordinator at the end of the month. Although her time with us was brief and we’re sad to see her go, she must follow a new path with what’s best for her, personally. That means, we’re starting the search for a new Programming Coordinator. If you have experience in community programming and are interested in being a part of the library’s mission, click HERE for more information and the application. 

 

Our Community

The LCPL staff are hard at work creating some really wonderful community programming for 2026’s Summer Reading Challenge: Unearth A Story. This year, the all ages challenge will start on June 12th and run through August 1st. We’re excited to be partnering with The National Mining Museum, a local gold prospector and leader of the gold prospecting community in Colorado: Kevin Singel,  Nature’s Educators, and more! Our Collections

This month, we’re featuring our Creation Station’s button maker as a passive library activity. If you’ve ever wanted to have some fun and make a button, stop by the library anytime. We have all the materials available for you!
 

 

Don’t forget that here in Lake County, we celebrate not just one day as Earth Day, but the entire month as Earth Month. In a place where Mother Nature is such a big part of our daily lives, you know that LCPL has your back on outdoor appreciation! Stop in and see our Earth Month displays that have curated materials for any nature enthusiast. We also have some awesome things in our Library of Things Collection to help you enjoy the outdoors like telescopes, Colorado State Park Passes, birdwatching kits, metal detectors and more! All Lake County resident library card holders with accounts in good standing are eligible for our Library of Things privileges after 30 days of opening their account. If you want access, stop by the front desk to sign the waiver and we’ll get your account updated.

Nos complace anunciar que The Soup Hug estará ofreciendo el servicio de comida en nuestra cena comunitaria gratuita durante la Charla de Autor del Día de la Tierra con Camille Dungy el jueves 30 de abril. Las puertas abren en Freight a las 5:30 p.m. ¡No te lo pierdas! ¡Ven y acompáñanos! Recuerda pasar por la biblioteca y recoger tu copia gratuita del libro de Camille, Soil: The Story of a Black Mother’s Garden, mientras haya existencias.

Lamentablemente, nos despedimos de Finn, nuestra Coordinadora de Programación a finales de este mes. Aunque su tiempo con nosotros fue breve y nos entristece verla partir, debe seguir un nuevo camino que es mejor para ella y su nivel personal. Esto significa que estamos comenzando la búsqueda de una nueva Coordinadora de Programación. Nuestra Comunidad

El personal de la biblioteca está trabajando para crear una programación comunitaria realmente maravillosa para el Desafío de Lectura de Verano 2026: Unearth a Story. Este año, el desafío para todas las edades comienza el 12 de junio y se extenderá hasta el 1 de agosto. Estamos emocionados de colaborar  con el Museo Nacional de Minería, un prospector de oro local y líder de la comunidad de búsqueda de oro en Colorado, Kevin Singel, Nature 's Educators, ¡y más! Nuestras Colecciones

Este mes, la máquina de hacer botones de nuestra Estación de Creación como una actividad pasiva en la biblioteca. Si alguna vez has querido divertirte y hacer un botón, pasa por la biblioteca en cualquier momento. ¡Tenemos todos los materiales disponibles para ti!

 

No olvides que aqui en el condado de Lake no celebramos solo un dia el Dia de la Tierra, si no todo el mes como el Mes de la Tierra. En un lugar donde la Madre Naturaleza es una parte tan importante de nuestra vida diaria, ¡sabes que la biblioteca te apoya en la apreciación del aire libre! Pasa a ver nuestras exhibiciones del Mes de la Tierra, que cuentan como materiales seleccionados para entusiastas de la naturaleza. También tenemos cosas increíbles en nuestra colección “Biblioteca de Cosas” para ayudarte a disfrutar al aire libre, como telescopios, pases para parques estatales de Colorado, kits para observar aves, detectores de metales y más. Todos los residentes del condado de Lake con tarjeta de biblioteca y cuentas en buen estado son elegibles para usar la “Biblioteca de Cosas” después de 30 días de haber abierto su cuenta. Si deseas acceso, pasa por el mostrador principal para firmar el formulario y actualizaremos tu cuenta.
