Colorado Author Camille T. Dungy is the author of America, A Love Story. She has also written the memoir Soil: The Story of a Black Mother’s Garden, the essay collection Guidebook to Relative Strangers, and four other collections of poetry, including Trophic Cascade, winner of the Colorado Book Award. Dungy edited Black Nature: Four Centuries of African American Nature Poetry, the first anthology to bring African American environmental poetry to national attention. She also co-edited the From the Fishouse poetry anthology and served as assistant editor for Gathering Ground: Celebrating Cave Canem’s First Decade. 

Her work has appeared in Best American Poetry; 100 Best African American Poems; Best American Essays; The 1619 Project; All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis and over 50 other anthologies. 

Camille is also the host of Immaterial, a podcast from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Magnificent Noise. A University Distinguished Professor at Colorado State University, Dungy’s honors include the 2021 Academy of American Poets Fellowship, a 2019 Guggenheim Fellowship, an American Book Award, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts in both prose and poetry.

Gabby Rivera is a Bronx-born queer Puerto Rican babe on a mission to create the wildest, most fun stories ever. Gabby grew up admiring her mom, aunties, and the women of her community. She saw them as superheroes and soaked in all of their stories as lessons in strength, gentleness, and humor. They inspired her to live a joyful, open, and revolutionary life which Gabby’s authentic writing style reflects.

Gabby is the first Latina to be asked to write for Marvel Comics and penned the solo series AMERICA which debuted in 2017. AMERICA is the story of America Chavez–the first queer Latina superhero, and in her writing, Gabby proved that superheroes can be superheroes while also being kind and vulnerable, too. 

In 2016, Gabby’s debut novel Juliet Takes a Breath was released to critical acclaim. It was called “outstanding” by Roxane Gay, named one of the 25 essential books to read for Women’s History month by Mic.com, and called one of the “dopest LGBTQIA YA books ever” by Latina Magazine. Demand for the book was high and as a result, Penguin Random House re-published the book in 2019. The title also includes Spanish language publication and graphic novel adaptation.

Gabby presented before the United Nations in 2020 as an invited speaker to their Unstereotyping Alliance Conference, and she has collaborated with groups such as the Ford Motor Company, the Makers Women’s Conference and Somos Familia, to uplift joyful storytelling and the magic of queer diasporicans everywhere.

In 2022, Gabby became a Sundance Screenwriters Fellow and received an Advancing Justice Award from Catalyst California, alongside activist Dolores Huerta and politician Sheila Kuehl. She currently resides on the West Coast and hosts Joy Uprising, a podcast that brings together her favorite revolutionary humans to honor joy in a chaotic world.
