Hello Lake County Library fans!

 

It’s officially summer and we are ready to rock n’ roll with an action packed Summer Reading Challenge and all sorts of fun activities. Get your calendar ready to write down your favorite events! If you prefer, we have a printed summer reading calendar at the library that would look magnificent on your fridge and remind you of all the cool things we have planned not just for June, but July and August as well. Stop by and pick one up!

We will be closed on Friday, June 19th for Juneteenth. There will be no programs that day.

 

Announcements

The Summer Reading Challenge will begin on Friday June 12th and last until August 1st. ALL ages can participate and all forms of reading count whether a child is having a story read to them, you’re listening to an audio book, or checking out the latest graphic novel. The first step is to register on Beanstack. Then follow our Summer Reading webpage and social media to stay up to date on all of the latest and greatest Summer Reading fun!

Help us kick off Summer Reading 2026: Unearth a Story! We’ll help you sign up for the challenge, a chalk art contest, games, prizes, and treats!

 

Make & Take Club: Chameleon Slime Creations

Wednesday June 17th | 2-3pm | all ages

Mix, stretch, and play with heat-sensitive slime that changes color with your hands! A fun, hands-on activity blending creativity and science. Supplies provided.

 

Fire Resistant Landscape Design with CSU Extension & C4

Saturday, June 20th | 9am-12:30pm | Registration Required

Fire Resistant Landscape Design: How to design your Landscape, choose plants, and use other techniques to have a more fire resistant landscape as well as waterwise.

Nature’s Educators: Creatures of the Night

Wednesday June 24th | 3:30 - 4:30 | all ages welcome

Join Nature's Educators for Creatures of the Night, featuring nocturnal and crepuscular animals such as owl, tarantula, scorpion, snake, and amphibians. They will discuss habitats, adaptations, diets, their personal stories, and conservation efforts!

 

Little Explorers Club at the Mining Museum

Thursday June 25th 10:30-11:30 | Ages 0-5

We’re taking the Little Explorers Club to the museum! Meet us at the National Mining Museum and Hall of Fame for an hour of fun, learning, and crafts.

 

LEGO Builder’s Lab

Every other week starting Monday June 29 until Monday July 27th | 4-5:30pm | all ages welcome

Put your imagination to work at LEGO Builders Lab! Kids can design, build, and create with LEGO bricks while exploring creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in a fun and relaxed library setting. All building supplies provided.

 

Volcano Blast: Lemon Edition

Wednesday July 1st | 3-4pm | all ages welcome

Get ready for an explosive science adventure with Volcano Blast: Lemon Edition! In this hands-on program, participants will create their own fizzy lemon volcanoes and watch chemical reactions bubble and erupt before their eyes. All materials provided!

Got legal questions? We can help! Join us for our Free Legal Clinic at the library.

Book Club for Adults

1st Wednesday of the month | 7-8pm | Treeline

Every month we read one book, and meet on the 1st Wednesday to discuss our readings. Discussion meetings held in the Library, or around town. This month Anni will be guest hosting in June.

 

Once you register, someone from the library will reach out with details regarding the month's and readers may come to the library to get their book for the upcoming month.

 

*At least 8 copies of the book on hand--first come, first serve.*

 

Colorado Workforce Center Assistance

2nd  Wednesday of the month | 12:30-3:30 | Baby Doe Room

Stop by the library on the second Wednesday of every month from 12:30-3:30 to meet with a representative of the Colorado Workforce Center. For employees and employers. Get help and resources for all things related to jobs and careers!

 

Tarot Club

Join the Tarot Tarts to enjoy a space of community while learning more about tarot. Bring your deck or use one of ours! No registration required.

Game Night for Adults

Are you an adult who likes playing games? Whether you're new to board games or a pro, come to the library and have fun with us! Every month we'll have a different featured game. Popcorn, hot chocolate, and tea will be provided; feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks. Leave your kids at home & bring your competitive spirit! No registration required.

 

Magic: The Gathering Club

Do you struggle to get to the library during business hours? Is leaving your home a challenge? We can bring library materials to you! Whether you want to be surprised with topics you choose or you want to choose specific materials, the library can drop off and pick up your items whenever and wherever it is convenient for you. We have a ton of tools available for your home improvement projects this summer! All LCPL resident library cardholders (with accounts in good standing) are eligible to check out tools AFTER they complete a Tool Library Orientation. You can request your orientation appointment on our website HERE.

 

Library of Things

Anytime | All Ages

We have a ton of cool things to check out this summer at the library! From Colorado State Park Passes, to telescopes, to craft kits, musical instruments, yard games and more! All LCPL resident library cardholders (with accounts in good standing) are eligible to check out from the Library of Things after a waiting period of 30 days from the time they get their card and they fill out the waiver. Stop by and check out all the cool things we have!

 

The Creation Station

BY APPOINTMENT | All Ages 

Create, create, create! Unleash your creativity and craftyness with the LCPL Creation Station. Make all kinds of things like: stickers, hats, t-shirts, keychains, mugs, puzzles, mousepads, custom etching of drinkware, custom wood engraving, and SO much more! All LCPL resident cardholders (in good standing) are eligible after completing an orientation. To sweeten the deal, LCPL provides one free “blank” item a month for you to create with! Additional supplies can be purchased at low cost from the library or you can bring your own supplies in. (Don’t worry, we can give you guidelines on what to buy.) El Desafío de Lectura de Verano comenzará el viernes 12 de junio y durará hasta el 1 de agosto. ¡Personas de TODAS las edades pueden participar y todo tipo de lectura cuenta, ya sea que a un niño le están leyendo un cuento, que estés escuchando un audiolibro o leyendo la novela gráfica más reciente! El primer paso es registrarse en Beanstack. Constructores  LEGO

¡Pon tu imaginación a trabajar en LEGO Builders Lab! Los niños podrán diseñar, construir y crear con bloques LEGO mientras exploran la creatividad, la resolución de problemas y el trabajo en equipo en un ambiente divertido y relajado en la biblioteca. Todos los materiales para construir serán proporcionados.

 

Erupcion de Limon

Miércoles 1 de julio | 3-4pm | todas las edades

En este programa práctico, los participantes crearán sus propios volcanes de limón burbujeantes y verán cómo las reacciones químicas hierven y entran en erupción ante sus ojos. ¡Todos los materiales están incluidos!

Cada mes leemos un libro y nos reunimos el primer miércoles para comentarlo/ Las reuniones se realizan en la biblioteca o en distintos lugares del pueblo. Este mes, Anni será la anfitriona invitada en junio. 

 

Una vez que te registres, alguien de la biblioteca se pondrá en contacto contigo con detalles del mes, y los lectores pueden pasar por la biblioteca para recoger su libro para el próximo mes.

¡Nos llevamos los materiales a ti! Puedes elegir temas o materiales específicos, y la biblioteca se encarga de entregarlos y recogerlos cuando y donde te convenga. Para comenzar, llena el formulario de interés.

¡Tenemos muchísimas cosas increíbles para prestar este verano! Desde pases para parques estatales de Colorado, telescopios, kits de manualidades, instrumentos musicales, juegos de patio y más. Los usuarios con tarjeta de LCPL (en buen estado) pueden acceder después de un período de espera de 30 días desde que obtienen su tarjeta y tras firmar un formulario. ¡Visítanos y descubre todo lo que tenemos!

Estación de Creación 

CON CITA PREVIA | Todas las edades

¡Crea, crea, crea! Libera tu creatividad con la Creation Station de LCPL. Puedes hacer todo tipo de cosas como: calcomanías, gorras, camisetas, llaveros, tazas, rompecabezas, mousepads, grabado personalizado en vasos, grabado en madera ¡y mucho más!

 

Los usuarios con tarjeta LCPL (en buen estado) pueden usarla después de completar una orientación. Además, LCPL ofrece un artículo base gratis al mes para crear. Los materiales adicionales pueden comprarse a bajo costo en la biblioteca o puedes traer los tuyos (te damos recomendaciones sobre qué comprar). Completa el formulario para reservar tu orientación o tiempo privado en la estación.
