The library will be closed on June 19th for Juneteenth.

Juneteenth is in observance of the end of slavery in the United States. Despite President Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st 1863, news traveled slowly and some states were resistant to the orders. It wasn’t until June 19, 1865 when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the enforcement of the proclamation in Texas, the last state left to comply. For this reason, many look at Juneteenth as our country’s birthdate of freedom since it meant that finally, all people were free.

Summer Reading Challenge Kickoff Party | Saturday June 28th | 12:30 - 2:00

Come celebrate the start of the Summer Reading Challenge! We’ll have games, contests, prizes, and free ice cream for all! We’ll show you how to get signed up for the challenge on Beanstack and be giving demos of The Creation Station. 

The Summer Reading Challenge: log 600+ minutes between June 28 and August 9—just 15 minutes a day gets you there! This year’s theme is Color Our World, with fun, creative programs centered on art and imagination. We have sign up prizes, halfway prizes, finisher prizes for all ages. Everyone who finishes the challenge will also receive 12 digital raffle tickets to put toward the prize of their choice(s) in our online Grand Prize Raffle!

Interested in the Creation Station but nervous about getting started? Want to create something rad of your own? Sign up and come to our Creation Station How To: Stickers! We'll get you up to speed with everything you need to create your own custom stickers using our Cricut machine. No registration required!

Messy Hands, Happy Feet | Monday June 30th | 10:30am - 11:30am | Kiddie Korral

Is a fun, hands-on painting program where toddlers use their hands and feet to create colorful masterpieces. It’s a messy, creative experience that encourages self-expression and motor skill development through playful art!

Read & Go | Ongoing, anytime

Do you find it difficult to get to the library during business hours? Whether your work hours prevent you from getting here, you don’t have a vehicle or transportation, or you have mobility concerns, we can bring the library to you! Patrons can notate specific books, CD’s, audiobooks, and DVD’s (or simply tell us what kind of topics you like and let us pick for you!) then select when and where they would like the materials dropped off and picked up. The Free Legal Clinic | 2nd Monday of the Month | 4-6pm | Appointment Required 

These sessions are for helping inform you of your rights and give you direction next steps.They will be held via Zoom with a Colorado based attorney. If you do not have access to a computer or private space, the library will provide you with what you need. We will also provide you with interpretation services if you would like them. The Creation Station | Ongoing | Anytime

This new Makerspace is designed to empower patrons to explore crafting and design in a hands-on, affordable way. The Creation Station is a space where library cardholders in good standing can take their crafting to the next level. The space features:

• A heat press for custom totes, t-shirts, hats, and more using vinyl or sublimation printing.
   
• A Cricut machine for precision cuts, cardmaking, and personalized projects.
   
• The ability to create custom mugs, keychains, puzzles, and more.
   
• A design computer station equipped with the software needed to bring ideas to life.

The library will offer a supply of blank materials for use, or patrons are welcome to bring their own. Each month, patrons in good standing may receive one free blank item to work with. Additional items will be available at cost. After an initial orientation session, the Creation Station can be reserved in 1-hour private sessions, allowing patrons to work independently. A library staff member will be available to assist with access and equipment, but the experience is designed to be user-driven.

Minecraft Club is back! Stop by the Amax Room to hang with friends and enjoy all things Minecraft. NO registration is required but there is limited availability on controllers.

Seeking all long time residents of Leadville and Lake County! We are starting a new oral history collection and want to hear from you! Help us preserve the vibrant history of this town for generations to come. La biblioteca estará cerrada el 19 de Junio por el Día de Juneteenth.

Juneteenth se conmemora como el fin de la esclavitud en los Estado Unidos. A pesar de que el presidente Lincoln firmó la Proclamación de Emancipación el 1 de enero de 1863, las noticias viajaban lentamente y algunos estados se resisten a cumplir la orden. The Creation Station | Disponible de forma continua | En cualquier momento

Este nuevo Makerspace está diseñado para empoderar a los usuarios a explorar el diseño y las manualidades de forma práctica y accesible. La Creation Station es un espacio donde los titulares de tarjetas de la biblioteca en buen estado pueden llevar su creatividad al siguiente nivel. El espacio incluye:

• Una prensa de calor para personalizar bolsas, camisetas, gorras y más, usando vinilo o impresión por sublimación.
   
• Una máquina Cricut para cortes de precisión, creación de tarjetas y proyectos personalizados.
   
• La posibilidad de crear tazas, llaveros, rompecabezas personalizados y más.
   
• Una estación de diseño con computadora equipada con el software necesario para dar vida a tus ideas.

La biblioteca ofrece materiales en blanco para su uso, o los usuarios pueden traer los suyos. Cada mes, los usuarios en buen estado pueden recibir un artículo en blanco gratis para trabajar. Se podrán adquirir materiales adicionales a precio de costo.

Después de una sesión de orientación inicial, la Creation Station podrá reservarse en sesiones privadas de 1 hora, permitiendo a los usuarios trabajar de manera independiente.
