Announcements, Updates, and Reminders:

A reminder that we have switched up and added all kinds of new programming to our regular schedule and there are a variety of places to get all the updated news. You can follow along on our twice monthly newsletters, check our programming sections or our calendar on our website, as well as follow along on our socials (Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky) for all the latest and greatest LCPL info.
 

The Winter Reading Challenge began last week on January 9th! If you haven’t signed up for it yet, there is still time! Visit Beanstack to log in to your account (or create an account) and get started tracking your minutes. The challenge is for all ages and there are prizes just for signing up! Don’t forget all forms of reading count– traditional books, e-books, audio books, newspapers, graphic novels–you can track all of them. 

Remember, Tarot Club with the Tarot Tarts is on Thursday the 15th this month only!

Also, don’t forget the library will be closed on Monday the 19th for MLK Jr. Day.

 

Have you tested your home for radon? Over 50% of Colorado homes have levels of radon above the recommended EPA Action Level and radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. Lake County Public Health has given the library FREE Radon test kits to hand out. Stop by and pick one up off our free shelf in the entryway!

 

The High Rockies Harm Reduction Program, which previously was available once a month on Saturdays, is taking a hiatus. They will be back in the spring with weekly dates and updated service vehicles. Stay tuned for an update on their return as we get closer to Spring. Visit their website if you need to get in touch with them directly. 

 

Our Community:

 

We are thrilled to announce that two new staff members have joined the library team. 

Finn is joining us as our new Program Coordinator and is also a brand-new resident of Lake County. We’re excited to welcome her both as a community member and as a library professional, bringing years of experience in library programming and makerspaces to LCPL.

Adam, a longtime Leadville resident and longtime library patron, is joining the team as our newest Library Assistant. He brings a love of libraries and a genuine joy for helping others to our staff.

Please join us in welcoming Finn and Adam!

 

 

Our Collections:

January is National Hobby Month, and we have SO many options for you to explore in our collections! You’ll find how-to books for all kinds of hobbies in both the kids’ and adult sections, along with books on art, travel, and outdoor activities to spark inspiration.

We even have hands-on kits you can check out from our Library of Things and take home to try something new! Choose from knitting, drawing, printmaking, and more. You can borrow a telescope if you’re into astronomy, a ukulele if you want to try your hand at music, or card and board games to kick off a regular game night with friends.

With so many options available, your next hobby might be waiting for you the next time you stop in!

All Lake County resident library cardholders with accounts in good standing are eligible to check out items from the Library of Things after 30 days from account creation. Stop by the front desk to get set up today!

Les recordamos que hemos renovado y agregado todo tipo de nuevos programas a nuestro horario regular, y hay varias maneras al día con toda la información actualizada. Pueden seguirnos a través de nuestros boletines dos veces al mes, revisar las secciones de programación o el calendario en nuestro sitio web, y también seguirnos en nuestras redes sociales (Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky) para enterarse de todo lo nuevo y emocionante que sucede en LCPL. 

¡El Reto de Lectura de Invierno comenzó la semana pasada, el 9 de enero! Si aún no te has inscrito, ¡todavía estás a tiempo! Visita Beanstack para iniciar sesión en tu cuenta (o crear una) y comenzar a registrar tus minutos. El reto es para todas las edades y ¡hay premios solo por inscribirse! No olvides que todas las formas de lectura cuentan, libros impresos, libros electrónicos, audiolibros, periódicos y novelas gráficas. ¡Puedes registrar todo!

Recuerda: El club de Tarot con las Tarot Tarts será este jueves 15 de enero (solo este mes). 

Además, no olvides que la biblioteca estará cerrada el lunes 19 de enero por el día de Martin Luther King Jr. 

¿Has analizado tu hogar para detectar radón? Más del 50% de las viviendas en Colorado tienen niveles de radón por encima del nivel de acción recomendado por el EPA, y el radón es la principal causa de cáncer de pulmón en personas no fumadoras. Salud pública ha proporcionado a la biblioteca kits GRATUITOS para pruebas de radón para repartir. ¡Pasa por la biblioteca y toma uno del estante gratuito en la entrada!

El programa de Reducción de High Rockies, que anteriormente estaba disponible una vez al mes los sábados, entrará en una pausa temporal. Regresarán en primavera con fechas semanales y vehículos de servicio actualizados. Mantente al pendiente de más información sobre su regreso conforme se acerque la primavera. Nuestra Comunidad:

Nos emociona anunciar que dos nuevos miembros se han unido al equipo de la biblioteca. 

Finn se une como nuestra Coordinadora de Programas y también es una nueva residente del condado de Lake. Nos entusiasma darle la bienvenida tanto como miembro de la comunidad como profesional de bibliotecas, aportando años de experiencia en programación bibliotecaria y makerspace a LCPL.  

Adam, residente de Leadville de toda la vida y usuario frecuente de la biblioteca desde hace muchos años, se une al equipo como nuestro nuevo Asistente de Biblioteca. Aporta su amor por las bibliotecas y una genuina alegría por ayudar a los demás. 

Por favor, acompáñanos a dar la bienvenida a finn y Adam mientras se adaptan a sus nuevos roles en la biblioteca. 

 

Nuestras Colecciones:

¡Enero es el Mes Nacional de los Pasatiempos, y tenemos muchísimas opciones para que explores en nuestras colecciones! Encontrarás libros instructivos sobre todo tipo de hobbies tanto en las secciones infantil como para adultos, además de libros sobre arte, viajes y actividades al aire libre para inspirarte. 

También contamos con kits prácticos que puedes llevar a casa desde nuestra biblioteca de las Cosas para probar algo nuevo: tejido, dibujo, grabado y más. Puedes pedir prestado un telescopio si te interesa la astronomía, un ukele si quieres intentar tocar música, o juegos de cartas y de mesa para iniciar una noche de juegos con amigos.  

¡Con tantas opciones disponibles, tu próximo  pasatiempo podría estar esperándote la próxima vez que nos visites!

Todos los titulares de tarjetas de la biblioteca que residan en el Condado de Lake y tengan cuentas en buen estado pueden solicitar artículos de la Biblioteca de las Cosas después de 30 días desde la creación de su cuenta. ¡Pasa por el mostrador principal para comenzar hoy mismo!
